Henry B. Peirson, State Forest Entomologist from 1928-1956, in a tree in Alfred.
Peirson and others from the Maine Forest Service supervised the Civilian Conservation Corps camps, including one in Alfred, that worked on tree insect and disease control. CCC crews climbed trees to do gypsy moth control.
